Things are progressing well as 90% of the floor has been removed and the construction team has been working on the insulation removal this week. Demo of the rooms and the new plumbing has been installed in the ground and the inspection passed yesterday so they can now begin the concrete work getting the floors back in. The new changerooms have been excavated and the footings poured. The walls are being constructed and ready for pour hopefully by next week. The new sand base for the refrigerated concrete floor should begin next week and the build up on the old floor to the new will be approximately an additional 2-3 inches higher and will eliminate the large lip at the end of the rink exit area.

This is the first update on the exciting renovation project at the Newcastle Memorial Arena. The project is moving into its second week and has shown tremendous demo work completed in a very short period of time. The pictures give a little idea of the demo area in progress and the look of the facility as of today.
The timelines are moving along as planned and security fencing has been installed around the property, the board systems have been designed, ordered and colour selection sent to the manufacturer. The refrigeration room has had all brine and ammonia removed from the system and is now ready for complete demolition of the room this week. |
