A tradition of community recreation

​One of the most recognizable buildings in the Village of Newcastle, this historic arena building was officially opened as an indoor natural ice rink on February 26, 1951. 

Home Town Hockey Hero Tara Watchorn, a Newcastle resident,  first laced up her hockey skates in this building at the age of 4.
Tara brought recognition and honor to our community, as a team member of the 2014 Gold Medal Winning Canadian Olympic Women’s Hockey Team.
